Experience Counts...

I advise founders and business leaders in their businesses on a weekly basis.

I’m also a keynote speaker. It doesn’t matter the size of the crowd. From 10 to 3,000 people and everything in between.

These days it’s all about giving back and not holding back.

I built a $240m online business in an industry that people had written off and others said Amazon will annihilate you anyway.

The most common feedback I get on why people want to engage me is: “You’ve done it. Most other advisers and speakers have not built what you have done and we need to know what you know.”

Below are quotes from people who know me, worked with me or heard me speak.

Audience quotes from Tony's Speaking Engagements

Tony was a high quality speaker with a wealth of real world experience.

Amazing Guest Speaker with lots of great insights in the journey. Loved it.

What an awesome event - such a generous, candid and interesting speaker and fantastic interview by Sharon Gerber. Well done team, 11 out of 10.

An awe inspiring venue, an engaging and authentic speaker... 5 stars isn’t enough!

Absolutely relevant and inspiring! Tony was so real and open... If there was a 6 star box I’d be ticking it.

Tony was the best speaker I have heard in years... I think far more learnings come from stories of adversity and Tony was extremely generous in sharing his personal and business journey. What a delightful man.

So many great takeaways but most of all was Tony’s mindset - choosing to be “better not bitter”.

Absolutely amazing story from Tony. His business life was a rollercoaster and he strapped us in and took us on his journey. He gave us an open book look behind the scenes of what he has gone through...

Loved the vulnerability that Tony showed. Very relatable. Key take away for me, focus on one thing and do it really well.
Quotes from the industry on Tony's contribution to business:

“We need more passionate visionaries like Tony Nash to create meaningful opportunities for author entrepreneurs in Australia. I have great respect and admiration for Tony. He’s been a supporter of my books and all that I do for over 20 years. Tony is a great speaker with much value to share with audiences around the world. And he has a great deal to offer any board.”
“I have watched Tony with great interest since the early 2000s when he started selling books online at a time of significant omnichannel competition. I was one of them. While the competition only intensified over the years, he slowly built Booktopia, bootstrapping it into the significant Australian retailer it is today. This came from persistence and an undying focus on customer-centricity in every company aspect. Supply chain, warehousing automation, people leadership and final mile created a differentiated model that won many service and e-commerce operations awards. This learning and experience has been shared widely across the industry. Tony has been a mentor and is always willing to help you understand what to focus on to work in or successfully build your business. Nothing beats blood, sweat, and tears, but wearing your heart on your sleeve with a big smile and leading by example paints the picture of true success.”
“I have had the pleasure of knowing Tony Nash for my entire life. I have worked for him as he was refining his entrepreneurial skills. I remember the highs and success and some lows but always followed by more success. Booktopia is his shining light, he found the success he so desired in life, it has enabled him to achieve his many goals in life and be able to now mentor and pass this knowledge onto others. Tony works with reckless enthusiasm and the world needs more leaders like him.”
“Tony Nash is one of the most generous Australian entrepreneurs I have met. When I was writing my first book, Secrets of Online Entrepreneurs', not only did he agree to be interviewed for the book, but he invited me onto his podcast, he organised a book launch for me at the Booktopia head office, bought a bunch of books to give away to the Entrepreneurs Organisation members who attended the event and has consistently been a huge supporter of me and all my projects. Thank you Tony for your generosity of spirit and willingness to help emerging entrepreneurs get their start.”
“Tony is a down to earth and highly experience leader, that I'm fortunate to have worked with. I genuinely admire his entrepreneurial skillset and how he had the vision to grow Booktopia, through empowering his team and an open door policy. Tony has always been giving of his time and when I was looking to start my own Recruitment Agency, I sought his feedback and he was only to willing to provide me his advice and guidance. I would highly recommend anyone to engage with Tony, a genuine person, with immense experience to help you grow your business!”
“I first met Tony many years ago when I was starting a small press. He took the time to have a coffee with me and give me some great advice. He has since been a supporter of our Australian Business Book Awards, and is always around the Australian publishing scene being generous with his time and expertise.”

Foundations and Early Ventures

My path to entrepreneurship began with a foundation in computer programming. Educated in computer programming at the Control Data Institute, I worked as a programmer and briefly sold computers early in my career, sparking my interest in the business side of technology. After travelling the world for three years and gaining a broader perspective, I ventured into recruitment in London, setting the stage for my first entrepreneurial leap. In 1996, I founded Best People International, an internet recruitment agency that grew significantly under my leadership until its sale to the ASX-listed Volante Group Limited.

Booktopia: Scaling New Heights

The inception of Booktopia was a serendipitous blend of opportunity and strategic foresight. While working in my family’s company, Globalise Pty Ltd, I played a crucial role in the birth and growth of Booktopia. Starting as a sideline project, it quickly became a focal point of my career. As CEO from 2007 until 2022, I stood at the helm as Booktopia grew from a fledgling online bookstore to a titan in the Australian book and online retail industry.

My Booktopia journey continues as a Director and substantial shareholder – propelling innovation and championing the brand’s sustained growth.
